By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Resilient Rural Belize (RRB) programme is hosting a one-day Value Chain and Market Assessment Validation Workshop reviewing eight agricultural commodities for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE) on Wednesday.
The workshop is being conducted in collaboration with the Centro Agronómico Tropical de Investigación y Enseñanza (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center – CATIE).
The commodities being looked at are sweet pepper, tomatoes, onion, cabbage, hot pepper, carrots, pineapple and honey, and honey by-products.
“The objective of the workshop is to review and validate the information provided by key actors in the value chain as well as to identify and prioritize potential value chain production, processing, and marketing efficiency improvements benefiting smallholders, women, youth, and other actors along the value chain,” said the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE).
The workshop is being conducted at the University of Belize in Central Farm.
The Value Chain and Market Assessment Validation Workshop is being attended by MAFSE representatives, including the Policy Unit, Technical Officers, the Cooperatives Department, and the Belize Agricultural Health Authority (BAHA).
