Step-grandfather charged for rape and assault of minor

By Aaron Humes: A 64-year-old retiree has been charged with rape of a child and assault of a child by penetration for separate incidents of sexual assault of his step-granddaughter, nine times his junior.

The seven-year-old told police that she was inappropriately touched by the accused at home on Monday, April 4. Previously, according to the minor, the accused tried to have sexual intercourse with her in December.

A medical examination certified carnal knowledge and classified her injuries as grievous harm. The minor has been removed from the home by the Department of Human Services.
