Belmopan City council closing month of events with Garden City Night Market this weekend

By Benjamin Flowers: The Belmopan City Council is preparing to close its month-long list of activities with a special elite cycling race version of its monthly Garden City Night Market.

Nikki Augustine, Councilor responsible for Small Business Promotion, explained that for this night market, which will be held at the Governor General’s Field from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, the council teamed up with Cano’s Road Race, which is usually held on Thursdays.

The race will start at 3:00 p.m. and will end at the GG Field to coincide with the start of the night market and the award ceremony where the race winners receive their prizes will be used to start off the event.

“We want Belmopan residents to be more aware of these events because we feel that family-friendly events are what has been missing in Belmopan,” Augustine said.

The Garden City Night Market is held every last Saturday of the month.

During the month, the council held a football tournament, youth market, kickball competition, art in the park event, business workshop, easter egg hunt, and a kids bicycle race.
