By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Honduras won 2-0 over Belize on Thursday night in the final Group A match in UNCAF U19 FIFA FORWARD Central American Championship.
Heber Núñez scored a header for Honduras in the 15th minute surprising keeper Isaac Castillo in what turned out a very even match at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan on Thursday.
Both teams pushed forward and when it appeared the game was going to finish 1-0, the Honduras were awarded a penalty kick. Jeyson Contreras converted the penalty kick in the 90’+2 after he was cut down in the box by Zanique Baltazar for the final 2-0.
The victory gives Honduras three points and the third spot in Group A leaving Belize in last place with one solitary point gained from their 2-2 draw with Nicaragua.
Honduras will play for fifth place against Guatemala at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium at 7:00 pm on Saturday.
Belize will play invited guests Puerto Rico for seventh place at 4:15 pm on Saturday at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium as well.
