By Aaron Humes: Effective Thursday, April 29, new fixed controlled prices for the sale of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by the Supplies Control Unit (SCU) in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise go into effect.
The wholesale price of imported LPG is now $4.93 per gallon, down 19 cents from the April 6 mark of $5.12 per gallon.
The retail price per pound of LPG is now $1.49 in the municipalities and $1.52 in rural areas. Thus a 100-pound cylinder would cost $149 in Belize City and other municipalities and $152 in rural areas. The corresponding prices are $6.53 per gallon and $6.63 per gallon.
The reduction is ascribed to lower acquisition costs for propane.
