Five men arrested for unlicensed shotgun and cartridges

By Benjamin Flowers: Police have arrested and charged five men in the Belize District for firearms offenses in connection with an unlicensed shotgun and cartridges.

The men were identified as 61-year-old Ramon Antonio Quintero, 28-year-old Juanito Davila Rios, 71-year-old Felix Alberto Murillo Escoto, 25-year-old Emilton Morales, and 26-year-old Andre Anthony Moreira.

Officers conducting joint operations in the Soldier Creek Reserve along with personnel from the Department of Forestry encountered the group around 9:03 a.m.

In their possession was a 12 gauge single-shooter shotgun and a grey cartridge belt with (14) cartridges.

When asked, none of the men could produce a license for the weapon, and they were all subsequently arrested and charged for the offenses of “Kept Firearm without a gun license” and “Kept Ammunition without a gun license”.
