Municipalities countrywide closing out Autism Awareness Month with walkathons

By Benjamin Flowers: As the month of April, observed globally as Autism Awareness Month, draws to a close, city and town councils across Belize are gearing up for one last awareness event, a walkathon.

Walkathons are being held tomorrow, April 30, in Belize City, San Pedro, Orange Walk Town, Corozal Town, San Ignacio/Santa Elena, Benque Viejo, Punta Gorda and Dangriga.

The events in all municipalities start at 6:00 a.m. and participants are asked to wear blue to show their support for autism awareness.

Participants are also encouraged to give a $5 donation, which will go towards awareness and outreach activities to support those with autism and their families.

Those wishing to participate are encouraged to check out the social media pages of their city or town council for information on the routes and any other activity being held following the walkathon.
