By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Prime Minister of Belize John Briceño on Thursday met in Havana, Cuba, with Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Organization Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba’s Central Committee (PCC), Roberto Morales Ojeda, said Prensa Latina.

Briceño and a Belize delegation are on an official visit to Cuba.

According to Prensa Latina, the Cuban party leader thanked the People’s United Party (PUP) and the Government of Belize for its permanent solidarity with Cuba.

Morales Ojeda spoke of the situation that Cuba is experiencing due to the ‘intensified’ United States embargo and ‘destabilization campaigns’, and Cuba’s creative resistance.

According to the Cuban media house, a joint release said both leaders agreed to continue strengthening the ties between their parties and working on the unity and integration of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Cuban leader underlined Cuba’s support for the Caribbean countries in their right to receive fair treatment, as well as for their claims for reparation of damages caused by colonialism.

Prensa Latina said Briceño “confirmed the will to strengthen political and cooperation relations with Cuba” and reiterated his party’s and government’s position against the US embargo.
