Man walks free from murder charge

By Aaron Humes: The office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has entered a nolle prosequi against Shadron Gillett, charged for the 2018 murder of Kevin Thomas.

This is a direction that at this time there is insufficient evidence to prosecute the case, releasing Gillett until such evidence is gathered.

Thomas was fatally shot in the head on October 15, 2018 while at a store near the Yarborough Bridge; he died two days later in hospital. Gillett was shot in the leg at the scene by a special constable after allegedly dropping the suspected murder weapon and trying to flee, only to be apprehended by police and being sent to hospital for treatment.

Gillett was represented by Attorneys-at-Law OJ Elrington and Michelle Trapp.
