By Aaron Humes: The Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital Authority (KHMHA) is among employers thanking staff publicly for their work on this Labour Day.
The hospital, run by a statutory board, boasts more than 700 workers from doctors to clerical staff to janitors, and claims to be the largest single roof employer in Belize.
On its Facebook page the hospital notes that it is “the only 24-hour operation that has never shut down since opening in September of 1995” – including during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic – and for that it thanks the many who have worked within its walls during that time.
To its staff it says, “Each and every person holding a job title is essential in bringing comprehensive tertiary health care to the nation. To all who toil…your work is appreciated.”
