By Benjamin Flowers: Belize Island Holding Limited (BIHL), the parent company for Harvest Caye Belize, is looking for someone with strong accounting knowledge, a strong work ethic, who pays attention to detail to join its staff as an accountant.

The successful applicant accountant will have a list of tasks including account analyses and reconciliation, including bank statements and intercompany general ledger accounts.

The successful applicant will also be responsible for providing support in month-end closing processes, which include but are not limited to reviews, analysis, accruals, and journal entries. Among the other responsibilities, the accountant will be required to assist with assigned general ledger balance sheet reconciliations, schedules which include cash, accounts receivable, liabilities, pre-paid, and intercompany upload into reconciliation software.

Harvest Caye is looking for someone who can prioritize tasks and work independently or as a team, if required, to provide support in producing accurate P&L account analysis and ad-hoc reports such as internal requests from a corporate office or senior management, etc. and external requests such as audits, and monthly reports and reviews. The accountant will also need to have knowledge of local tax laws/requirements to assist with tax audits and with identifying any errors and breaches in accounting procedures, as well as ensuring that all journal entries have adequate support/explanations.

Apart from an ability to work under pressure, interested applicants will be required to have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, and a minimum of one year’s general accounting experience.
