Panama edge Nicaragua 4-2 in penalty shootout, gain 3rd place in 2-1 U19 FIFA FORWARD Central American Championship

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Panama edged Nicaragua 4-2 in penalty shootout after a 3-3 draw during regulation time to gain third place in the U19 FIFA FORWARD Central American Championship at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan on Saturday.

Panama jumped ahead of Nicaragua in the 17’ on a goal by Ricardo Gorday.

Nicaragua bounced back and tied the game in the 37’ on a goal by Kelylon Batiz. They then went ahead when Cristhian Herrera hit the target on the 45’+2.

Panama rallied and tied the match in the 57’ when Gorday found the net again.

Then Nicaragua went ahead for a second time in the 69’ on a goal by Widman Talevera. Panama tied the game yet again in the 74’ on a goal by Fernando Mc Clean forcing a penalty-kick shootout.

Panama were more effective winning 4-2 and claiming third place. Nicaragua had to be content with fourth place.
