Belizean Ashton Usher named to Rugby America’s North Dream Team

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belizean Ashton Usher was named to Rugby Americas North (RAN) Dream Team.

“Historic achievement by Ashton Usher – first Belizean to EVER be selected for a rugby Dream Team!” said Rugby Belize’s president Tony Gillings.

“Never before has a Belizean made an international rugby Dream Team. Amazing achievement for Ashton Usher who scored four tries at the RANY7s Qualifiers tournament in Nassau, Bahamas last weekend,” added Gillings last week when Rugby Americas North made the announcement.

“Before I managed to do a hattrick. I made four tries. One in one game and three in another game (against the British Virgin Islands),” said Usher.

“I’m glad I got an opportunity to come and do something like this and represent my country.”

Rugby is rather new to Belize which is yet to win an international game. Belize recently lost all their games at the Rugby Americas North (RAN) Sevens Qualifiers in Nassau, Bahamas, on April 23-24.

The other Dream Team members are Kevin Deveaux of the Bahamas, Thomas Isherwood of Canada, Fharid Samano of Mexico, Jonathan Taylor of Trinidad and Tobago, Lachlan of Canada, and Gareth Stoppani of Jamaica.
