Minister of Agriculture Jose Abelardo Mai congratulates the Veterinary Surgeons’ Board, Veterinary Association of Belize on the first unified Animal Health Week

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Minister Jose Abelardo Mai and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise (MAFSE) congratulated the Veterinary Surgeons’ Board and the Veterinary Association of Belize on the first unified Animal Health Week.

Animal Health Week is being held from Saturday, April 30 to Friday, May 6, 2022.

In declaring the Animal Health Week open, Minister Mai pointed out the importance of veterinarians to Belize’s agriculture in the improving economy. Minister Mai said it was time the relationship between the MAFSE and the Veterinary Association of Belize improved to ensure the livestock sector would benefit.

Minister Mai invited the Veterinary Association Belize to have their home at MAFSE’s National Trade and Show Grounds in Belmopan and said the Association would be invited to all MAFSE livestock events.

He also said that private veterinarians should be made aware of what’s happening at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise.
