By Benjamin Flowers: The Belize Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in the investigation of the murder of 27-year-old David Gonzalez.
Gonzalez was shot on Thursday, April 28, while guarding Super Q Mart on the Bullet Tree Road, San Ignacio Town, Cayo District. He was shot six times and died while receiving treatment at the San Ignacio Community Hospital.
Today, Head of Communications for the Office of the Commissioner of Police Assistant Superintendent Fitzroy Yearwood, explained that the investigation is ongoing, but that investigators need help.
“We are asking the assistance of the public, we have sent out a few still shots from a video, in trying to locate and identify the assailant in this murder,” Yearwood said.
Yearwood also said that from the evidence gathered thus far, it is apparent that Gonzalez was killed for the firearm that had been issued to him by the security company he was employed with.
He added that there was someone detained for questioning, but that no one has officially been charged in connection with the incident.
