By Aaron Humes: An unusual death was reported overnight in San Ignacio Town.
According to an initial report, a Police investigation revealed that nineteen-year-old Chris Rodriguez was along with his cousin, a seventeen-year-old minor student, playing football on the Norman Broaster field in San Ignacio.
They were approached by the field’s caretaker, who asked them if they had any ticket to show that they had paid to enter the field, to which they responded no, and they were asked to leave the field.
They agreed and while exiting the field, they encountered the caretaker standing by the steps. He was then approached by Rodriguez and an argument ensued between them which led to a fight where Chris was allegedly stabbed to the neck.
Chris Rodriguez was escorted to the San Ignacio Community Hospital and later to the Western Regional Hospital. He succumbed to his injuries early this morning.
Police investigations continue and we will have further details as we get them.
