By Benjamin Flowers: Nineteen-year-old Chris Rodriguez was stabbed to death in San Ignacio Town last night, and the San Ignacio/Santa Elena (SISE) Town Council has publicly expressed its grief at his loss.
Today the SISE Town Council issued a statement on its official Facebook page saying “The San Ignacio and Santa Elena Town Council extend its deepest sympathies to the Rodriguez Family on the loss of their loved one Chris Rodriguez. May He Rest In Peace and Rise in Glory.”
In the aftermath of his murder, residents of the twin towns have taken to social media to express their grief, sympathy, and outrage regarding what is being classified as a “senseless” murder.
Rodriguez was reportedly playing football with a cousin, a 17-year-old minor at the Norman Broaster field when the caretaker told them to leave because they had not paid the $115 fee to use the field. While leaving, Rodriguez reportedly got into an altercation with the caretaker and was stabbed to the neck and back, dying of his injuries at the Western Regional Hospital this morning.
