St. Martin’s Credit Union donates one thousand dollars to school feeding program at St. Ignatius High School

Posted: Wednesday, May 4, 2022. 10:32 pm CST.

CONTRIBUTED: In April 2022, the St. Martin’s Credit Union Limited donated a $1,000.00 to the Saint Ignatius High School’s Feeding Program. This donation is part of our community outreach program. Considering the Covid-19 pandemic, and the devastating effects it had on families’ incomes, the Credit  Union is doing their part to ensure that no child attends school hungry.

As part of our community give-back, donations have been made to the San Ignacio Police Station (motorcycle), food hampers to members affected by flooding in the Calla  Creek and Bullet Tree areas, computer equipment to the Drs. Kevin & Kenneth Guerra Polyclinic in Benque Viejo, and now, the St Ignatius High School.

The donation will be useful to the high school as they mention that most students attending the school have parents in the Tourism Industry—the industry hit hardest by the Covid-19 pandemic. The donation was presented to the Principal of St. Ignatius High School, Ms. Jeaneane Neal by the Finance Officer, Mr. Leon Palacio, who was accompanied the Officer in Charge of the Benque Branch, Ms. Camille Cal. It is our hope that this donation will assist the high school in feeding the students who may have it a little harder than others, thereby, benefitting the community at large by keeping our future generation safe. St. Martin’s Credit Union is committed to the development of the local communities is committed to work in and will continue to provide support in whatever way the Credit Union can.

Members and non-members are encouraged to visit and like the Credit Union’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/SMCUbz to receive updates on the latest news of the Credit Union. St. Martin’s also encourage non-members to visit our offices, either in San Ignacio or Benque Viejo, and speak with them to learn of the benefits of becoming a member and the ease of joining. The Board of Directors, Joint Officers, Management, and staff, and members take this opportunity to remind all members to stay safe not only for yourselves, but also for your loved ones.
