By Aaron Humes: Leader of the Opposition Moses “Shyne” Barrow told us that the United Democratic Party will support an unknown number of slates in the forthcoming Village Council Elections.
But as he also acknowledged, the Party is coming out of two years of leadership instability (which he denied he deliberately created), and in the 30 days since becoming Leader, he does not expect constituency committees to be fully ready.
Nonetheless, he has been campaigning and encouraging villagers to “protest” against the management of the current administration by voting against them.
As to financing, Barrow said he is fiscally conservative and so will not spend excessively, preferring to concentrate on building relationships and giving slates the opportunity to campaign and perform to the best of their ability.
And the Party is hardly “broke” as according to Barrow the bills are being paid. This is no rap video, he said: his brand of politics is practical and sober.
