Man charged for the murder of Chris Rodriguez

By Benjamin Flowers: Police have officially arrested one man for the stabbing death of 18-year-old Chris Rodriguez.

Today police formally charged 20-year-old Fausto Teck, for the crime of murder.

Rodriguez, a promising footballer with dreams of one day playing in Belize’s Premier League, was stabbed during an altercation with Teck, the caretaker at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio Town on Tuesday, after he was told to leave because he had not paid the $15 fee to practice on the field.

The incident has shocked residents of the twin towns, and sparked public outrage countrywide.

There was a candlelight vigil held in Rodriguez’s honor in San Ignacio/Santa Elena last night, which was widely attended.
