Steve Moss, charged with gang affiliation, remanded to prison

Posted: Thursday, May 5, 2022. 11:21 am CST.

By BBN Staff: Belize City resident, Steve Martin Moss has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison over a charge of gang affiliation.

Moss appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court yesterday, answering to a single count of “being the member of a gang” an offense under the Crime Control and Criminal Justice Act.

Moss pleaded not guilty to the charge and was denied bail and placed on remand. He is expected to return to court sometime in July.

Moss is accused of being a member of the South Side Gang (SSG), one of the gangs that signed the September 2021 gang truce, along with the 4th Genna Gang.

This week the Belize Police Department sent out a warning to all gang members that they should be prepared at any time to be criminally charged for gang affiliation.
