By BBN Staff: A Ladyville man is spending his first night on remand at the Belize Central Prison, after being charged with firearm offences.

Iwin Sandor Palma, 24, appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where he faced charges of kept unlicensed firearm and kept unlicensed ammunition. He pleaded not guilty to both charges, but due to the nature of the offense, bail could not be granted.

He will remain on remand until August 8.

Allegations against him are that police found in his possession a .9mm pistol and 11.9mm live rounds during a search conducted on Reggae Street on Wednesday, May 4.
