Man accused of stealing cellphone and exposing himself to a minor remanded to prison

By BBN Staff: Belize City resident 33-year-old Ehud Haulzes is on remand at the Belize Central Prison this week, following charges of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and theft.

Haulzes appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, over two incidents a day apart in which he is accused of stealing a cellphone belonging to his ex-girlfriend and exposing himself to an 11-year-old girl, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Senior Ford offered him bail of $2,500 for the sexual offense and bail of $1,000 for the theft. Haulzes was unable to post bail and was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until July 5, 2022.

The minor told police that she was walking on Hydes lane when she saw someone she identified as Haulzes, who exposed his genitals to her. He also told police that she knew him well because of a previous incident. The theft victim alleges that she was at the Princess Casino where Haulzes snatched her phone from her hand and ran. She says she pursued but was unable to catch up with him.
