Prince Harry and Megan Markle will still attend Queen’s Platinum Jubilee after being banned from being on the balcony

By Benjamin Flowers: Prince Harry and Megan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, say that they will attend the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next month even after they and Prince Andrew, Duke of York, have been banned from sitting on the balcony with the other royals, the UK Daily Mail reports.

A statement from Buckingham Palace said that the decision to allow only royals who are carrying out official public duties will be on the balcony, with a few exceptions including Princess Anne’s husband and some grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

‘The Queen has decided this year’s traditional Trooping the Colour balcony appearance on Thursday, June 2 will be limited to Her Majesty and those members of the royal family who are currently undertaking official public duties on behalf of the Queen’, a palace spokesman said.

Despite the snub, A spokesman for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said that the Sussexes are “excited and honoured” to attend The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations with their children, three-year-old Archie, and 11-month-old Lilibet.

Following the announcement, Royal Biographer Tom Bower and Royal author Angela Levin publicly spoke out against the Sussexes, with Bower alleging that they would “milk the celebrations for their own benefit,” while Levin said that the focus of the event will be on how the Sussexes behave as opposed to the Jubilee itself.
