The Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing (MIDH) handed over six houses in the Cayo District on Friday.
Two houses were handed over in Valley of Peace, two in Benque Viejo del Carmen, and one each in Georgeville and Roaring Creek according to MIDH Publicity Manager Marisa Alamilla.
Cement pilot houses were handed over to Carmelita Tzib in Georgeville, Rosa Guillen in Roaring Creek, Yolanda Umaña in Valley of Peace, and Francisca Morales and Alberto Gamez in Benque Viejo del Carmen.
A wooden house was also handed over in Valley of Peace.
“The other house in Valley of Peace was not a pilot home; it was a one-bedroom wooden structure that was delivered to Mabelyn Soto because she is a fire victim. So, it’s an urgent case,” said Alamilla.
The Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing, in fulfillment of Plan Belize, is constructing one-bedroom houses countrywide for single parents, women and men, who are economically challenged and are in need of a house.
More houses are scheduled to be handed over next week.
“This month we’re handing over houses almost every other week,” Alamilla told BBN.
