Man punched in the eye by his neighbor says aggressor made police report before he could

Posted: Sunday, May 8, 2022. 10:58 am CST.

By Benjamin Flowers: A Belize City man who was injured in a dispute with his neighbor was criminally charged on Friday and complained that he was charged because the aggressor got to the police before he could.

Robert Stuart Jr., who came to court with a swollen eye, appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court to answer two counts of threatening words and one count of indecent words.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail in the sum of $500 plus one surety of the same.

He contends that his neighbor Ernest Stuart, who lives in the same yard as him, punched him in the face during an altercation. He also claimed that Ernest Stuart initiated the altercation.

Stuart Jr. is due back in court on July 5.
