Cayo Dreamers beat Wagiya SC United 2-1 in NAWL B; move up to 2nd position

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Cayo Dreamers doubled up on Wagiya SC United 2-1 at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga and moved up to 2nd position in the National Amateur Women’s League B (NAWL B).

Ilyn Cruz opened the scoring for the Cayo Dreamers in the 59’ but Wagiya SC United tied the match in the 66’.

In the 88’, just before the long whistle, Daysi Paiz gave the Dreamers the much desired 2-1.

During the livestream, the Cayo United Female Football Club (Cayo Dreamers) announcer dedicated the game to Chris Rodriguez, who the Cayo Dreamers say the Sunday before had been celebrating their victory over the Santa Elena Strikers. Rodriguez was stabbed multiple times at the Norman Broaster Stadium on Tuesday and died on Wednesday morning at the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan.

The three points helped the Cayo Dreamers leap over Wagiya SC United into second place. Before the match both teams were tied at six points each with Wagiya holding the second position based on goal differential.

Wagiya are now third with six points.
