Jewel Fury are back, beat Rumberas 1-0

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: National three-time defending champions Jewel Fury are back in the thick of the action at the top of the National Amateur Women’s League A (NAWL A).

They had shown signs of their improvement, after a dismal start, with their 6-1 trouncing of the Verdes Rebels Girls the previous weekend and confirmed it this past Saturday with their 1-0 win over the national sub champions Rumberas.

Honduran Fátima Romero converted the only goal of the match in the 52nd minute from a penalty kick.

The win ties Jewel Fury at seven points with Rumberas but because of a better goal differential, Jewel Fury are now in second place.

Rumberas, for their part, drop from first to third place as the Sagitun GIRLZ, who won on the weekend, move up to first place with nine points.
