New COVID cases average 21 per day over the weekend

By Benjamin Flowers: The latest national COVID-19 update issued by the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) shows an average of 21 new cases a day between May 7-9.

The update shows a total of 63 newly-confirmed cases in the three-day span, that were detected from among a total of 1,503 tests.

Data for new infections by sex showed 36 females and 27 males testing positive over the weekend. Once again, the Belize District reported the highest number of new infections, 29, with 21 of them coming from Belize City.

There are only two patients hospitalized due to COVID-19 and neither of them is in the ICU. The Ministry also has 221 suspected cases under investigation.

A total of 25 patients have newly recovered from COVID-19 infection and there were no new deaths associated with the virus.
