By BBN Staff: A teenager from Belize City was fined in court today after he was found in possession of a stolen cellphone that belonged to a Special Constable.

The special constable reported that while she was on duty at Golden Bay located on Marine Parade when she left her phone in the police booth to go on patrol, upon return she noticed her phone was missing.

The quick response led to the detention of 19-year-old, Deon Rudolph Cayetano, who had the phone in his possession.

In court, Cayetano said he paid $20 to the person who sold it to him, claiming that he was trying to make some money to feed his children.

Cayetano pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods and was fined $500, plus the $5 cost of court, which he has to pay by September 1 to pay or spend two months in prison for default.
