COVID update: Active caseload surges past 200

By Aaron Humes: After the weekend’s surge of new cases, a recent high of 54 new cases of COVID-19 was established today countrywide.

39 net new cases were added, lifting the active caseload figure to 239 with 103 samples under investigation.

Three persons are hospitalized but the country continues to be death-free as far as COVID is concerned.

The majority, 24, of the new cases were reported in Belize City. Five new cases were reported in Belmopan, and three each in Benque Viejo Town and Hopkins, Stann Creek District.

Reporting centers with two cases each were: Corozal Town; Ladyville, Belize District; St. Ann’s, Belize District; and San Ignacio and Santa Elena Towns, Cayo District. Centers with one new case ranged from Copper Bank, Corozal District, to San Pedro Columbia, Toledo District, with only San Pedro Town reporting no new COVID cases.
