By Benjamin Flowers: The Government of Belize and in collaboration with the Belize Tourism Board has issued a digital application for a fuel subsidy programme for tour operators and tender operators.

The programme, which will subsidize fuel for target groups for a period of six months, began on Monday with an application process that runs up to Friday, May 13.

“Please note that submission of this form does not equate to automatic approval of a fuel subsidy. This form and the information requested will assist in the finalization of the fuel subsidy program, after which successful applicants will be notified,” the BTB said.

The BTB also assured that the information provided in the application will be treated with the highest level of confidentiality and that individual responses will not be published.

Those interested are encouraged to have their applications, which can be found here filled out by May 13 as late applications will not be considered.

The programme is one of the responses the Government of Belize has devised to address the rising cost of fuel and its impact on the economy. Recently, GOB absorbed increases in the price of diesel fuel, to keep the price per gallon at $13.41. The price for gallon for regular and premium fuels are $13.50 and $14.82 respectively.
