NEXGEN win San Ignacio-Santa Elena 5-A-Side Football Marathon

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: NEXGEN blanked Esperanza FC 4-0 in the championship match of the San Ignacio-Santa Elena (SISE) 5-A-Side Football Marathon on Sunday at the SISE Falcon Field.

Danny Jimenez scored two goals while Marlon Meza Sr and Jr drilled one each, said Town Councillor Zahir Figueroa.

Coincidentally, the finalists of SISE’s last marathon in March, Reimers Elite Strikers, and the SISE Town Council Team, met in Game One of the 5-A-Side Knockout. The Town Council won then, but on Sunday Reimers got some consolation as they routed the Town Council 6-2.

In the semifinals, NEXGEN beat Reimers Elite Strikers 3-0 while Esperanza FC walked over Deportivo Alianza 5-1.

Reimers defeated Alianza 3-1 for third place.

As champions, NEXGEN claimed the top prize of $600. Subchamps Esperanza FC got $400 and third place Reimer’s Elite Strikers received $200.
