Police arrest man leaving court because he was wanted for another offense

Posted: Tuesday, May 10, 2022. 9:46 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Sheldon Grinage headed to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today for a scheduled appearance to answer allegations of being a gang member, but while he was at the courthouse, police arrested him because he was wanted for another offense.

Grinage was wanted for the revocation of Supreme Court bail, which the prosecution made an application for on April 13.

The court had accepted the application and revoked bail for Grinage along with his brother John Grinage and Brandon Baptist; however, Sheldon was still at large at the time.

After he was seized today he was transported to the Belize Central Prison, where he will remain until his matter is resolved in court.

Grinage is one of several men arrested for a video posted on social media which police say was for the purpose of gang activity.

He was also wanted for revoking his bail on the grounds that he failed to sign in at the Mahogany Street Police station between August 20, 2021 and April 3, 2022, more than seven months, as per the conditions of his bail.
