By Aaron Humes: 58 more new COVID-19 cases were reported countrywide today as the Ministry of Health made public notice of the start of yet another wave of the pandemic in Belize.
Belize now has 285 active cases of the virus with 66 samples under investigation.
At the moment three persons are hospitalized with COVID-19 symptoms but none are in intensive care and no new deaths have been reported.
As indicated by the Ministry, the central districts of Belize and Cayo are of greatest concern. Belize City added 19 new cases; Benque Viejo Town, six; San Pedro Town, five; Belmopan, four; and San Ignacio and Santa Elena three together.
Other areas seeing cases (reporting centers without figures beside them had one case) are San Narciso, Corozal District (two); Trial Farm, Orange Walk District; Lords’ Bank (three), Ladyville (two) and Burrell Boom (one), Belize District; Roaring Creek (two) and Armenia, Camalote, Esperanza, Georgeville and St. Matthew’s, Cayo District; Dangriga Town, Independence, Placencia and Valley Community, Stann Creek District and Punta Gorda Town, Toledo District.
Belizeans are reminded to practice personal responsibility to avoid the continued spreading of COVID-19 which remains a serious and occasionally deadly disease.
