Belize Athletics Association expecting 75-100 athletes for National Championship this coming weekend

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Athletics Association is expecting from 75 to 100 to register for the 2022 National Track and Field Championships scheduled for this weekend, May 14-15, at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex in Belize City.

The BAA said earlier that after midnight on Wednesday, May 11 no more registrations will be accepted.

Athletes from the entire country will converge at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex on the weekend for the 2022 National Championships which start with the Women’s 100m at 9:00 am on Saturday and with the Women’s 3000m at 8:00 am on Sunday.

The last event on Saturday is the Men’s 4x100m Relay at 3:15 pm while the closing event on Sunday is the Men’s 4x400m Relay at 1:45 pm.

The events include 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m, 5000m, long jump, triple jump, high jump, javelin, discus, and shot put.

To compete, athletes must be 16 years old or older.
