By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Get ready for the Chocolate Festival of Belize on Friday and Saturday, May 20-21 in Punta Gorda, Toledo, the chocolate capital of Belize.

On Friday, May 20, you may enjoy the Wine and Chocolate Gala at the Punta Gorda Welcome Plaza for $50.00. The Gala runs from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

“Join us for an elegant evening and indulge in Belize’s finest chocolate, wonderful wine selection, cocktails or a or a refreshing chocolate stout,” said the organizers of the Chocolate Festival of Belize.

Then on Saturday, May 21, it’s the Taste of Toledo Street Fair featuring many products and by-products of chocolate. The Street Fair starts at 9:00 am and closes at 6:00 pm.

If you’re dropping in for the weekend for the Chocolate Festival of Belize, the organizers say there are a number of options for you to stay, including Beya Suites, Copal Tree Lodge, Hickatee Cottages, Coral House Inn, Blue Belize, St. Charles Inn, Charlton’s Inn, Grace’s, and Tate’s Guesthouse.
