By BBN Staff: A man who was fined in court today for marijuana possession, is claiming that police added more to the amount he was originally busted with due to their scale.
In court, 43-year-old Emmanuel Barrow said that he had been smoking weed for 27 years and that this was his first run-in with police. Barrow said that when police arrested him on May 9 on Boots Crescent in Belize City, he only had 14 grams in his possession but when they weighed it at the station it was 20 grams.
He pleaded guilty and for his plea and was fined $100 plus a $5.00 cost of court, which he was ordered to pay August 31, 2022 in default, 1 month imprisonment.
