By BBN Staff: There was a traffic accident on Albert Street today where a taxi that apparently had mechanical problems almost crashed into Heritage Bank.
The bank’s security guard said that he heard the taxi engine start up and begin to rev, and shortly after there was a loud bang. The taxi had taken off under his speed, gone over the median and crashed into the sidewalk in front of the bank.
The two passengers in the taxi, being driven at the time by Edward Sanchez, were injured and taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for treatment, but eye witnesses say that the sidewalk played a role in minimizing a situation that could have been a lot worse.
It is unknown at this time what kind of issue caused the accident, which left Sanchez shaken up after the fact.
