COVID update: Active cases continue to rise; 19 more in Belize City

By Aaron Humes: Belize now has 328 active cases of COVID-19 countrywide, as 49 more were reported today against just six new recoveries.

Of these new cases, 19 were in Belize City; six in San Pedro Town; four each in Belmopan and Caye Caulker; two each in Orange Walk Town, Hattieville, Belize District, and Punta Gorda Town; and the others in San Pablo and Trial Farm, Orange Walk District; Crooked Tree, Gardenia, Sandhill, and Western Paradise, Belize District; Branch Mouth and St. Matthew’s, Cayo District; and Dangriga Town and Hopkins, Stann Creek District.

Three persons are hospitalized – two unvaccinated and one fully vaccinated. The Ministry of Health and Wellness reports no new deaths stemming from the disease.

Belize is approaching 58 thousand total confirmed cases with an overall positivity rate of 10.9 percent and a recovery rate of 98.1 percent.
