By BBN Staff: A Belize City man pleaded guilty to a charge of drug trafficking today but was fined instead of given prison time.
Twenty-two-year-old Gaston Barrow was charged for the second time for the same kilogram of marijuana, after the first case against him was struck out in November 2021.
For his guilty plea he was fined $5,000 and given until September 30 to pay or he will face two years in jail for default.
Barrow was found on Euphrates Avenue on June 10, 2021 with the marijuana in his vehicle. When police asked if he had anything to declare before they searched his vehicle for guns and ammunition he told them he had some marijuana.
