COVID update: 60 new cases to close the week as active case load approaches 400

By Aaron Humes: A net increase of 49 new COVID-19 cases has pushed the active caseload to 377 with a further 247 samples under investigation.

A total of 60 new cases were reported against 11 recoveries.

24 of the new cases were reported in Belize City; five each were in Belmopan and San Pedro Town; three in Bermudian Landing, Belize District; two each in Orange Walk Town; Caye Caulker and Ladyville, Belize District; and Hopkins and Independence, Stann Creek District, while the others were in Gales Point, Hattieville and Lords’ Bank, Belize District; San Ignacio and Santa Elena Towns, Billy White, Esperanza, San Jose Succotz and Teakettle, Cayo District; and Punta Gorda Town, Big Falls, Sunday Wood and Yemeri Grove, Toledo District.

Four persons are presently hospitalized with COVID-19 symptoms but none are in intensive care and no new deaths have been reported.

Belizeans are reminded to exercise personal responsibility in safeguarding themselves against the virus.
