Altercation over rumors turns violent in Gales Point; man pistol-whipped and shot at

By Benjamin Flowers: Police are looking for two men in connection with a shooting incident in Gales Point Village, Belize District yesterday.

Norman Slusher reported to police that he and Emmanuel Samuels were at D&D Shop around 4:15 p.m. when he saw Mervin McDonald and Filbert Usher, whom he had previous issues with. Slusher approached the men over rumors that they said they would kill him and an argument ensued.

During the altercation Usher allegedly pulled a firearm from his pants and hit Samuels in the face. Samuels and Slusher then got into their vehicle and drove off, and further alleged that while they were doing so McDonald took the fire gun from Usher and opened fire on them.

Usher and McDonald are currently being sought by police as part of an ongoing investigation.
