BREAKING: Police charge two in early Saturday morning shootout in Newtown Barracks

By Aaron Humes: In the last hour, Police have announced the arrest of two men on charges stemming from the early Saturday morning shooting exchange in Newtown Barracks, Belize City.

Traffic warden Kenyon Tillett of Belize City has been charged with Discharging a Firearm in Public, two counts of aggravated assault and one count of wounding.

Tarique James of Belize City has been charged with Discharging a Firearm in Public.

Both were further remanded for court arraignment.

There was a reported altercation between two groups early on Saturday morning – one led by Tillett and the other allegedly by Deputy Mayor of Belize City Micah Goodin and James.

As Goodin, James and their group left, shots were fired from their vehicle, to which Tillett responded with gunfire of his own. One person sustained minor injuries.
