Jewel Fury shock Sagitun GIRLZ 2-1, take over lead in National Amateur Women’s League A

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Jewel Fury showed that they have recovered from the initial stumble at the beginning by taking down the league-leading Sagitun GIRLZ 2-0 in the National Amateur Women’s League A on Saturday.

They also got even for the 2-1 loss against the Sagitun GIRLZ in the season opener on March 19 at Independence.

After collecting only one point in the first two games, Jewel Fury have won their following three consecutive matches over Verdes, Rumberas, and now the Sagitun GiIRLZ.

In the match played at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan on Saturday, Janivi Quiroz gave Jewel Fury the lead in the 60’ with a shot from way outside the box which the Sagitun goalkeeper couldn’t hold on to. Then, Khalydia Velasquez secured the win in the 67’ shooting the ball into the net after a rebound off the crossbar.

Jewel Fury are now the new leaders of the NAWL A with ten points dropping the Sagitun GIRLZ to the second spot with nine.
