By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The San Pedro Pirates beat the Verdes Rebels Girls 3-1 in their own backyard at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio on Saturday in the National Amateur Women’s League A.
Elva Nuñez opened the scoring in the 40’ for the Pirates. Tamara Baptist put them up 2-0 in the 51st. But Verdes got some hope of tying the ball game when Shayla’Lee Flowers converted for them in the 68’. However, Baptist got the second goal in the 72’ to put it away 3-1 for the San Pedro Pirates.
The Pirates are still in fourth place but now with seven points, same as Rumberas, but with one more game.
The Verdes Rebel Girls are having a dismal season and are in the fifth position with only one point to show from five matches. If they sink to NAWL B, Cayo will have three teams in the second tier.
