By Benjamin Flowers: The Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations is actively working to boost the number of tourists coming to Belize by making the country more accessible to visitors through air travel.
Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations Anthony Mahler is leading a delegation in Europe to meet with airlines about offering flights to Belize.
The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) reports that Mahler is accompanied by Mohit Budhrani (Chairman, BTB’s Board of Directors), Evan Tillett (Director of Tourism, BTB), Anthony Hunt (Chairman, Aviation Development Committee-ADC), Sander Langeveld (GlobActive) and Nicolas Gurwicz (VP, Campbell-Hill Aviation Group).
The group held a meeting in Frankfurt, Germany earlier this week as a part of their itinerary.
“The group moves on to Amsterdam for a couple days to meet with other airline partners,” the BTB added.
Up until the COVID-19 pandemic, Belize was seeing successive record-breaking years in visitor arrivals, which were impacted largely by the fact that an increasing number of airlines began offering service within the past few years.
Those airlines include: Frontier Airlines- December 11, 2021; Southwest Airlines- October 15, 2015; Alaska Airlines- November 19-2021; Copa Airlines- December 10, 2015; and WestJet Airlines- October 29, 2016.
