Benque Verdes Jrs, ZBoys to play Benque 1st Division Football Final

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The ZBoys and Benque Verdes Juniors will play the Benque Viejo Football Committee’s First Division Final at 7:00 pm on Saturday, May 21 at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen.

The Benque Verdes Jrs defeated regular-season leaders Santa Cruz 4-2 in penalty kicks after falling in the second semifinal 1-0 at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen on Sunday. Luis Santos scored the only goal of the match in the 6th minute.

Since the Benque Verdes Jrs had won game one 2-1, Santos’ goal tied the overall score 2-2 forcing the penalty kicks.

For their part, the ZBoys reached the Final by beating Succotz United 1-0 on a strike by Kayser Tut in the 39th minute. The ZBoys won the semi-finals 4-0 overall having downed Succotz United 3-0 in the first match.

Santa Cruz will play Succotz United for third place at 5:00 pm on Saturday, May 21, before the Final is slated for 7:00 pm.
