Calbert Estrada Jr. charged for shooting Mahogany Heights teens; remanded to jail

By BBN Staff: Gales Point Manatee Resident, 19-year-old Colin Estrada Jr. was remanded to the Belize Central Prison this week for the shooting of two teen brothers from Mahogany Heights.

Estrada was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court yesterday, where he was charged with attempted murder with respect to 15-year-old Trayson Gibbson, and aggravated assault upon 17-year-old Tavion Gibbson.

Due to the nature of the offense, bail was not available to him at the Magistrate’s level, and he was remanded until July 18.

The incident happened on the night of April 12. The brothers were in their home around 9:45 p.m. when someone came in through the back door and opened fire on the brothers.

Trayson was hit to the abdomen and left arm and was rushed for medical treatment shortly after. He managed to identify Estrada as his attacker to police.
