By Benjamin Flowers: Lonely Planet, the Australia-based travel guidebook publisher with over 120 million books sold since its inception, has named Belize as one of the best destinations to visit in 2022.
Lonely Planet recently issued its “Best in Travel 2022” list with Belize being the fourth entry on the list.
The top three spots on the list were captured by The Cook Islands, Norway, and Mauritius respectively.
Lonely Planet explained that the list of destinations were chosen through a rigorous process from top names in the travel and tourism industry globally. This year’s panel included Roi Ariel, General Manager of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council; Uwern Jong, Editor-in- Chief of OutThere; Tharik Hussain, an expert in Muslim culture and heritage; Sarah Greaves-Gabbadon, an expert on Caribbean travel; Martin Heng, an accessible travel advocate; and Melanie Lieberman, senior editor at The Points Guy.
The other entries on the list were Slovenia, Anguilla, Oman, Nepal, Malawi, and Egypt.
Being named among such notable tourism destinations sends a message to the world that Belize has established itself as one of the must-visit destinations worldwide.
